Curves Petersfield

Aileen West
Miss January 2009

Aileen is one of our newest members, having just completed her 1st month here at Curves.
She was nominated as Miss January by Circuit Coach Marcia who has been very impressed with Aileen’s dedication and commitment at achieving her goals and coming at least 3 times a week – quite often every day.
Aileen says her motivation to coming to Curves is to lose some weight, firm and tone, but also to give herself more energy.  She is a self employed VAT consultant which means spending all day stuck at a desk.  This can leave her feeling sluggish.
Already Aileen has seen changed in her energy levels, and has lost a staggering 10.2lbs and 8.75 inches.
This is just through regular workouts at Curves, not by any change to her diet.
Aileen says:
“I was cross with myself for putting on weight and decided I needed to do something about it.  I have previously been a member of other gyms where I would spend an hour and a half there, so I struggled to fit this in to my busy schedule.  A friend introduced me to Curves, and I definitely find this 30 minute workout as good and efficient as doing an hour and a half at a regular gym.”

Ruth Markby
Miss February 2009

As March at Curves is all about helping those less fortunate than ourselves with our food drive, it felt fitting that Miss February should be selected because of her good deeds also.  This month, Ruth Markby has been chosen.

In June of this year, Ruth is going with a charity called Mission Direct to Rukungiri in South west Uganda on the borders of Rwanda and DR Congo.  The team of volunteers will be helping alongside local builders to build classrooms, toilets, bathrooms and dormitories for a primary and nursery school where hundreds of children, mainly orphans.  HIV/AIDS has devastated the country leaving many children orphaned; currently these children are being taught under trees in a classroom made from sticks.

Not only is Ruth volunteering out in Uganda, but she is also dedicating her time to fund raising for them, as funds are urgently required to purchase the building materials required for the project.  This month, Ruth will be partaking in a sponsored walk and hopes to raise £1000.  We are looking to help Ruth raise funds for this worthy cause by holding a raffle.  If you would like to buy some tickets or donate a prize, please speak to a member of staff

Ruth has been a member with us for a year now, and has increased her workouts and effort levels to help prepare her for her sponsored walk.  Ruth enjoys the encouragement from the staff and other members most about Curves.

Pat joined the team at Curves in February 2009, after taking positive action to get healthy, lose weight, firm and tone up.

Pat says her motivation to come along to Curves was to improve her energy levels, along with lose weight, firm and tone!
